Breadsticks

The picture has nothing to do with today's post. I can do that since it's my blog! :) It's from our Detroit trip--the boys were very excited to ride on the train!

I'm making breadsticks today, and I thought I would share the recipe for anyone who might like it! These are as good (or better!) than the breadsticks that you get at the Olive Garden (my FAVORITE place to eat out!). And they're really pretty easy to throw together. Hope you enjoy!

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

1 1/4 cups warm water

2 Tbl olive oil

1 1/2 tsp salt

3 Tbl grated parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 1/2-2 tsp italian seasoning

3 cups flour

2 Tbl sugar

2 tsp active dry yeast

Put all ingredients in bread machine in the order listed. Select dough setting. When the cycle is complete, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 20 pieces. Shape each into a ball and roll into a 9" rope. Place on greased cookie sheets. Cover and let rise 40 minutes or so until doubled in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove to wire racks. Brush warm breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with garlic salt.

Hey I found you! We were all so sorry you had to leave early the other day. We were kinda looking forward to seeing how many sequins you could get on those flip flops!!!

mmmm.... you just made my day! Time buy some yeast! I have been wanting to do some baking...

Can you do it without a bread machine?

yes, we have a name... kevin FINALLY gave final approval last weekend! It's Katherine Faith... Katherine means Pure... we will call her Kate or Katie, depending I suppose on which comes out of our mouth at the moment.. Emily wants to call her Kit or KitKat...
I say, "go for it!" I didn't think to post it on my Xanga yet... but I guess I will!

I meant to ask... have YOU guys come up with a name? Are you one of those ppl that holds it close to teh vest until the baby is born?

I read something the other day about a mom naming her baby boy and she and her husband couldn't agree on a name... her choices caught my eye because she had two and they were Jonah and Henry!!

Oh! and the name they finally settled on was SAM!! I thought that was sooo funny... in a coincidental sort of way! Sorry for so many different comments...

Oooh! I hope you get Sam to agree on your choice! That would be so cool... and if Sam says " well, we can't do it because they are", then tell him... "they won't be around forever!"

I'd like to see the "after" photos, based on your description on Michelle F.'s blog. ;-)

The recipe does sound good. I'll give it a try.
