Yesterday was my birthday. We had most of the Hasz side of the family over for dinner and cake (a beautiful cake--thank you Kelly! You are so talented!) . The house was full (just like I like it!) and it was so fun. The kids had a ball having their cousins over and they were exhausted by the time bedtime came around.
My mom sent me a very sweet email and it made me really reflect on things. Especially my own children. Being a mom really changes the way I look at birthdays, but it has also really changed the way I look at my mom! Being a parent is such a challenging thing to do, and to do it alone must be next to impossible! So mom, I want to honor you in this (semi-public) setting and say thank you. I am so grateful for the things I learned from you--you genuinely taught me how to be a better person and mother. I love you and am so glad for the relationship that we share. Thanks for being you! :)

Lisa, thank you so much, that's very nice of you to do, I'm so sorry that I couldn't be there to celebrate your birthday with you, you're such a special young woman and as I told you before I feel very blessed that God chose me to be your mother. I love you and am so proud of you. love mom
Your mom looks so young and beautiful—in both that photo and her current profile photo!
I am amazed at how you never seem to stress out—regardless of how many kids are in your house at one time! Oh to be like you!
Happy Birthday to you! Eat a piece of sugar-free cake for me!
I agree with Beth, your mom looks so young! She did a great job of raising you and Brian and I am thankful for that. Your birthday party was great..thanks for having everyone over.
