The Canada trip!

I may have mentioned that my husband was gone for ten days last week. He and his brothers all went in together and took their dad to Canada for an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime (yeah, right--until next year!) fishing and camping trip! Some of Sam's fondest memories from growing up are of fishing with his dad, and especially the annual trip up into Canada.
Here's the boys having a 'shore lunch' one day. It's the only picture we have with all of them in it--didn't it turn out great? They would spend all day on the water, but they'd find a nice spot to take a break from all that fishing to eat. They had camp fires and roasted hot dogs every day.

The guys really had a wonderful time. They caught WAY more fish than they could count (we're talking hundreds!), had decent weather, played a lot of cards, and had a lot of fun! We're a little short on pictures (as Sam was the only one who brought a camera), but here's a taste of their trip. The picture below here is Sam with two fish--because he and Jon were in a boat together and caught nice walleyes at the same time!

Canada holds a special place in my heart too....our wedding date was actually set in July specifically so that we could spend most of our honeymoon with the family on the annual Canada trip! I was a little unsure of what I was getting myself into, but it became the vacation that I looked forward to the most every summer! So I suppose I was a little jealous that this was a 'guys only' kind of trip--I love this kind of thing! (Sam's repaying me with a wonderful babysitter for the kids and a visit to the Olive Garden tomorrow night, so I'll have to call it even for now!)

I'm so glad we cannot smell those men! I'm sure they all had a great time!

Date night, gotta love that Sam! Have a great time out together. I bet he missed you big time. Italian sounds much better than a hot dog :)

What?! You're not going to stay home and eat fish by candlelight?!

Enjoy your date night with Sam.

I hope you have a wonderful time at Olive Garden! If you want you can order me something, I'm half Italian and the other half mutt.

God Bless,

So is your freezer full of Walleye? That is my absolute FAVORITE fish to fry. My mouth is watering right now.

The nursery looks great! Nice job!

I am sure there would be a lot of stories that we wouldn't want to hear about that trip to Canada, eh?

Have a great night out...

Hope your eye is completely healed - so you don't have to wear sunglasses on your date...

I'm glad they're back . . . although for the record, David is gone again. Such is my life!

seriously, you are a saint. i know, i know...it was a gift for his dad. but really- you have two little, energy sucking little boys and a little one on the way and you were left home for 10 days so he could bond?

you are one heck of a wife.
