Fireworks in a Glass

These are fun, safe, kid-friendly fireworks that you can do with your kids in the kitchen!

  • tall drinking glass
  • short drinking glass
  • red and blue food coloring (or any colors you like)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • fork
  • water

Pour room temperature water into a tall drinking glass, leaving an inch of space at the top.

Add three tablespoons of vegetable oil and two drops each of the red and blue food coloring into the small glass. Do not add water to this glass. Carefully stir this combination a couple of times with a fork to just barely break up the drops. You want to have both small and large beads of coloring.

Slowly pour the oil and food coloring mixture into the water. Watch and in about 30 seconds the beads will begin to explode through the oil and release little red and blue streamers into the water. The streamers will appear as little fireworks!

I found this idea in a local grocery store advertisement, and it is really fun! The boys have already done 'fireworks' twice this morning! :)

I was so planning this for Austin's party. I found it on the internet like a week ago. I haven't tried it yet though

Doesn't taste too well though, however, what does taste good is the juice at the end of the jalepeno jar. Truly is delicious. Yum, Yum.

Just Son L-O-V-E-D this project.

We listened to Sam's advice and decided not to drink it. Haven't tried the jalepeno juice yet, though.
