It finally happened . . .

and it was enough to pull me out of my non-blogging stupor.
I dropped Henry off at school this morning. Took him into the gym where the kindergarteners line up by class. Kneeled down to give him a hug and a kiss (after waiting for his friends to quit hugging and greeting him) and when I leaned in to kiss him.....he turned his head away! Then he smiled at me with a guilty little grin that told me he knew exactly what he had just done and felt a little bad about it. I could NOT believe it. Henry is always the one asking for hugs and kisses regardless of who is around, but today he was getting hugs from his best friend Blake and I think he was a little embarrassed to kiss his mommy! I suppose I wasn't quite ready for that yet.

A few weeks ago, the entire kindergarten put on a musical show entitled "United We Stand" and it was so cute! There are something like 270 (?) kids in kindergarten here and they did an amazing job. They sang a few songs all together and then they were in groups of 3-4 classes for a few songs each. You could really see how hard they all worked to practice and prepare for the show.

Here's Henry with his wonderful teacher Mrs. Forsyth right after the show: And in other family news, we continue to become more and more Western....

We stopped at a garage sale a few weeks ago and the super-sweet lady running it fell in love with Henry. He was telling her how he's a cowboy and when he grows up he's going to be a REAL cowboy and live in the desert and everything. She went and dug through her son's old clothes and came up with a western style shirt with pearl-snap buttons, which she gave him. It's about three sizes too big, but Henry couldn't have been more excited about it. At another garage sale that same day, I found a cute little straw cowboy hat with a tie-strap under the chin. I thought Bridget would love it, but as it turns out Henry claimed it (see picture above) and gave Bridget his 'old' cowboy hat:

As you can see, she was thrilled about it. :)

And Jonah dresses as a cowboy about half the time. He isn't quite as committed to it as Henry, but for some reason the whole look just comes together a little more naturally for Jonah.

We had plans to take the kids to a really fun rodeo tonight, but it is supposed to rain all evening and I don't think I'm up for a rodeo in the rain. Maybe next weekend the weather will cooperate and it will work out. I guess we'll see!

ohhhh, i ahhed and moaned about the first story, then felt great joy when he came back to you. so soon? i am SO thankful that even nicholas still holds my hand when we walk, still hugs and kisses me and even at school. THANK YOU LORD! God knows now would not be the time for them to assert independance from mama, when she's an emotional wreck!

the cowboys in the family are adorable.

We had dinner with some friends last night and their oldest (5 yrs) asked me to sit by him and invited me to his school "grandparents" day. He, in one moment, made up for all the lonely moments I feel without my kids in my life on a daily basis.

Enjoy every single hug and kiss even is once in awhile they turn away. You are at the prime time for loads of love and tons of hugs.
